DOUBLE MESH RING NETWORK IN OPTICAL FIBRE.
Viking’s infrastructure covers the whole of Italy, including the islands and consists of a non-shared double ring mesh backbone network in optical fibre. Furthermore, it uses different PoPs to those of the major Italian telecommunications providers, with which it is connected through various core PoPs throughout Italy.
THIRD RING WITH RADIO MESH NETWORK.
Viking has a further mesh network, the only one of its kind in Italy, made up of a proprietary microwave radio backbone network, used in the event of disaster recovery. Each Viking PoP is connected by radio to at least two other nearby PoPs (e.g. Milan with Turin and Brescia), thus ensuring that provision is stable in the event of a so-called “double fibre cut”.
LAST MILE ON DEDICATED RADIO LINK.
All the last mile stretches are on dedicated point-to-point radio links, compliant with the MEF CE 2.0 specifications, with split TX/RX frequency. They use FDX technology, with guaranteed symmetric bandwidth and 100% MCR, providing minimum business continuity values of 99.95% one way, with maximum protection and minimum guaranteed bandwidth MCR 100%.
NON-SHARED PROPRIETARY INFRASTRUCTURE.
The Viking carrier-grade solutions never involve multipoint infrastructures, which use unprotected collective frequencies working in HDX aggregate bandwidth (Multipoint HyperLan, Wi-Fi etc.). Hence, we provide an exclusive and secure connection guarantee.
MAXIMUM INSTALLATION RELIABILITY.
All Viking installations go through a specific design process for each situation, in order to guarantee the maximum structural reliability of the installations at all times, even in critical conditions. Specifically, all structural elements used in the installations have resistance parameters calculated at 300% of the standard values.
